With over two decades of experience speaking on behalf of and advocating for people with disabilities, Joseph “JB” Bensmihen has been a successful advocate, educator, and keynote speaker. JB brings his unique point of view, distinct vision, and delivery to all areas of his life. Whether it’s a classroom, college campus, boardroom, or courtroom, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, having delivered over 600 presentations in his career.

As a Lobbyist and Government Relations expert, JB incorporates business leadership with a history of advocacy in the areas of healthcare policy and consumer rights. He has developed working relationships with federal legislators to conceptualize and implement lobbying programs that deliver results. JB has met with and advised over 20 members of Congress, President Obama, Vice President Pence, and has presented testimony to the House Workforce Education Committee. He created the Private Care Association’s first PAC (political action committee), doubled the trade group’s membership, and established the organization as a leading authority in home care policy. Additionally, JB secured the trade group field assistance bulletin guidance from the Department of Labor, which is essential to the financial health of home care providers. He has also secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funding for Florida’s LiFT Academy, serving up inclusive educational environments and opening legislators’ eyes to the urgent needs of mainstreaming students who live with disabilities.

The global Jewish community is the beneficiary of JB’s desire to serve as a lay leader within important institutions such as AIPAC, Yeshiva University, the Orthodox Union, Friendship Circle, Jewish Association for Residential Care, and the Canadian Jewish Congress. JB has also served as President of the Boca Raton Synagogue for 3 terms.

JB is a published author with his book, “Taking Your Place at the Table — The Art of Refusing to be an Outsider”. He is passionate about inspiring others to find their voices and take action on the issues that matter most to them.

Mr. Bensmihen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the JB Consulting Group, a Florida based company focused on Government Relations and mediation services in the areas of Circuit Civil, Family, and Elder Care. He is a recognized expert in the areas of Geriatric Care Management and Guardianship services. JB serves as a field instructor at both Florida Atlantic University and Yeshiva University. In addition, he serves as a member of the Board of Overseers at Yeshiva University, his alma mater. JB holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, a Master’s Degree in Social Work, and is fluent in English, Hebrew, Spanish, and French.
